Description

THE LAST PLYMOUTH MUSCLECAR. This is a car that flew under the radar in 1976. It is a very rare Plymouth Duster with the high-performance 360 4-barrel engine. The car was not advertised and you had to know someone to get one. Production numbers are not known for sure but it’s speculated to be around 1400. An unusual feature of these cars was the lack of a catalytic converter. It was such a low production model that it got an emission exemption (see picture). Unfortunately this one spent its life in northern Ohio and has a lot of rust. I bought the car a few years ago, sight unseen, and was planning to put its drivetrain in another Duster I have. After researching the car I decided it was too rare to part out. It has the original 360 engine, 727 trans, and an 8.25 rearend with Sure-grip. Odometer shows 16,156 miles. I have reason to believe that the actual miles is probably 116,156. When cleaning out the trunk I found a stack of January 5,1984 Cleveland Plain Dealer newspapers with plastic bags ready to be delivered. It's possible that whoever owned the car never got back to their deliveries. Did the car sit for the rest of its life? I just can’t imagine the next owner leaving a stack of newspapers in the trunk for 30+ years.
The car comes with its original Carter Thermoquad carburetor and factory manifold. Only thing missing is the original air cleaner. I have the build sheet from under the backseat. You can see it in my pictures. Main options are:
E58 360-4 hp/police
D36 727 Torqueflite 72 up
D82 8.25" axle
T76 E70x14 rwl tires
W55 body color road wheels
C56 bucket seats 1972 up
Again, I can’t bring myself to part this car out and I am too old to start a restoration. There has to be another Mopar enthusiast out there that sees this cars uniqueness and would be interested in bringing it back to life. It's not a Hemi car or E-body car that would justify a high-dollar professional restoration. But I do believe the body is salvageable if you can do the work yourself. I also have a set of decent doors that go with the car. I also have pieces that are missing in the pictures such as; glovebox, chrome rocker trim, chrome mirror, ashtray, and other parts.
I have many more photos showing underhood, trunk, wheelwells, undercarriage, and suspension. Also, I have photos of the interior without the seats. Both driver and passenger side floors have been patched. The worst of the rust (besides the doors) is under the hood and the front frame rails. Please know that I am not trying to hide anything. I want any buyer to know what they are getting into. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions. Thanks for looking.

I have been asked if the Duster runs and is drivable. I drove it onto and off my trailer 5 years ago. The engine ran then and should now. But I have not tried to get it running since taking it out of storage a couple of months ago. Battery is shot and will need replacing. Gasoline probably needs replacing. You will need to trailer it home. Thanks.
