Up for sale is my
Vintage Flexible Flyer Racing Model 251J S.L. Allen Sled that I’ve had since I was a kid in the late ‘50s early ‘60s…
I had many, many hours of fun on this wickedly fast sled ! We’d wax the runners with an old candle and it would FLY down a steep hill we had at the park just outside the pool in Dormont, PA !
The last time I road this was somewhere around 2000 (nearly 50 years old !) when our nieces were up from Georgia. Each one got several rides down that hill (on our backs for their safety
)…you couldn’t wipe the smiles off their faces for hours 😊
Excellent condition with all original finishes, decals and fasteners !
51½” long
12” wide steerable safety runners.
6“ tall
Made in U.S.A.
Decals and Ink stamps all in place with aging and minor play wear.
Chrome nose piece nice and shiny with minor speckling.
Nothing has been restored or painted over.
All attaching hardware (rivets, clevis and cotter pins, etc.) are tight
Shows normal play wear – this thing had a lot of downhill runs, but we took care of it as a treasured possession.
Runners are straight and tight to the wood frame
No wood cracks or rot anywhere
No loose parts
Safety runners in back
My name is engraved in the underside – didn’t want someone running off with it…
Also would make a great Christmas / Winter interest display piece, too !
