    Description

    BOB-O-LINK "The Sled That Skis"
This is a unique sled with a great Swiss inspired design made in the 1940s into 60s.  It is a five foot steerable bobsled with steel over wood flexible floating runners and a brake for speed control.  It was made by
a company called Withington in West Minot, Maine (see photo 12 of a magazine ad).  It is in excellent condition, no breaks in the wood slatted deck nor steering and braking mechanisms. Some wood ends are a bit ragged and one tiny dent is in the cowling.  The metals used in its construction were refinished and painted sometime in its past and are in very nice shape.  The woods are mostly hardwoods and nicely finished without being painted as have some Bob-O-Links we have seen.  The decal was removed when repainted and the supplied deck cushion is no longer around.  Current realized auction pricing for this quality level is 5 with decal, padding but painted wood.  Dimensions are 17 inches high, 22 inches wide and almost five feet length; it is heavy and reportedly 32 pounds.
